2020 MODERNISM WEEK

We participated in the 2017 Modernism Week with four houses that were on the tour.  It was extremely successful and we were one of the first tours to be sold out.  We have a great story with Green Fairway Estates which is a group of midcentury modern houses that line Lakeside and Pebble Beach Dr.  These houses were the last to be built by the Alexanders and were designed by Wexler,  both well known names in midcentury modern circles.  We are planning to participate in the 2020 Modernism Week with 5 houses.  Tickets will be $75/person (up from $50 in 2017).  The event will be held from February 13th thru the 23rd of 2020.  Our tour is scheduled for February 20.  The District Water Agency - DWA which is a part of our Neighborhood will provide us with a visitors’ tent and giveaways for the event.  The activities for the festivities will go online on October 25, 2019 and tickets will go on sale on November 1, 2019.

EMPTY LOT AT WAVERLY & BROADMOOR

The board has been trying to get this small parcel of land maintained. The parcel is too small for building and the ownership has been somewhat of a mystery. The City of Palm Springs has been helping us maintain the property, and we are working with them to find an  ultimate resolution.  Our goal is to insure that that area is properly maintained.   More to come

CITY ORDINANCE ON USAGE OF ABANDONED OR SOLD GOLF COURSE LAND

The city of Palm Springs has been working on a proposed ordinance to determine how to handle abandoned and sold golf course land.  At issue is the fact that two golf courses, the Palm Springs Country Club and Bel-Air Greens were sold without any such plans to deal with how the land will ultimately be used.  The ordinance is meant to protect local residents and to insure that a certain amount of green space is preserved.  The Tahquitz Creek Golf Resort is not in jeopardy of being sold, but we are monitoring these activities.

 NEARBY DEVELOPMENTS

There are two developments that are on the South side of HWY 111.  They are in various stages of development.  Take a look at the 3Q19 Quarterly Report to get more information.
